The three time INDYCAR champion adds victory at the famous race to his collection of wins this year, making it five from six in the 2025 season. Palou made the move for victory on lap 185 of the race when he dove down the inside of Ericsson’s Andretti Global car into the first corner. He was able to hold on for victory, utilising the slipstream from the back markers in front of him.  “I cannot believe it, what an amazing day” said an out of breath Palou in his first interview after becoming an Indy500 champion. “There were some moments when I felt really good in the race but at the end I wa...

World Class Mangan Saves Title Hopes Late On - RTA Round 7 Review

Image
By Evan Dalton for RTA Virtual Motorsport Photo by Evan Walsh Oscar Mangan left it late in the feature race of Round 7 of the Motorsport.ie RTA BTCC at Silverstone, but still took a crucial race victory in the pursuit of his second drivers championship victory.  Mangan was also victorious in the opening heat race of the night, but title rival Ronan Doherty still managed to get another win on the board, doing so in Heat 2.  Pole position went the way of Mangan, and by quite a margin. With straight line speed a paramount focus of the evening, Mangan’s Honda Civic would need to get off the line well and limit the effects of its lower top end compared to the Hyundai’s and Audi.  Heat 1  Mangan did get the start he sought after, leading his way through the opening laps and pulling a gap over the rest of the field.  Darragh Halley started on the front row for the first time in his RTA career, and he defended well from Dan Mould in the opening stages. Eventually, mist...

EXPLAINED : Newgarden and Power Fail Technical Inspection

Image
By Evan Dalton for All About Indycar Racing INDYCAR have announced that Team Penske drivers Josef Newgarden and Will Power have been moved to the 32nd and 33rd starting positions for this year’s Indianapolis 500 after failing a technical inspection.  It was found that both cars have modified attenuators, during inspection before Fast 12 qualifying on Sunday afternoon. As well as being demoted to the back of the grid, the team has been fined $200,000 and driver strategists Tim Cindric and Ron Ruzewski have been suspended.  The attenuator, which is on the rear of the car and is a safety feature that is designed to decrease peak G-force levels, was found to have been modelled together with other components of the rear, filling in the gap that existed between the two pieces and providing the car with an aerodynamic advantage.  Upon further study this afternoon with multiple sources visiting the museum at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, this same illegal m...

McCaughan Masterclass Highlight Of Knockhill Drama - RTA Round 6 Review

Image
By Evan Dalton for RTA Virtual Motorsport Photo by A.I Dylan McClements  Brandon McCaughan took victory in the Motorsport.ie RTA BTCC for a second consecutive week with a defensive performance for the ages at Knockhill.  The Ballycastle native took the feature race win after both Dan Mould and Ronan Doherty took race victories earlier on in the evening.  Knockhill is one of the most difficult circuits on the calendar, and was always predicted to be a difficult evening for drivers with harsh kerbs, lots of off track adventures and not a vast amount of overtaking zones. Doherty took a crucial pole position with championship rival Mould alongside him.  Heat 1  Doherty nailed the bite point and launched his Hyundai off the line to take a commanding lead extremely early on.  Not everyone got away as well, and first lap contact was made between Darragh Halley, Kevin Joyce and Conor Melia before the first corner. Contact was made between Halley and Joyce, sliding ...

Everything That Has Happened Between INDYCAR’s Two Most Recent Cautions -

Image
By Evan Dalton for All About IndyCar The NTT Indycar series in the recent past has become synonymous with yellow flag caution periods, therefore it came as a surprise to see only one during the opening race of the year.  Green flag running continued beyond the season opener, and the drivers kept on their best behaviour. A lack of crashes and lucky escapes between Lap 1 carnage in St. Petersburg and David Malukas’ car failure in Indianapolis gave us the longest run of green flag laps ever in the history of Indycar, registering at 408 laps.  So, for the first time since 1986 three or more races have run without interruption. Just like 1986, newspapers have been rammed with ground breaking headlines. Let’s take a look at everything that happened in the last two and a half months during IndyCar's spell of consistent green flag running.  March 4th : Tariffs, Tariffs, Tariffs  Just two days after the season opener in St. Petersburg, President Donald Trump officially...
