Moving House, Trying To Find Garbage Cans, and Suit Shopping - How David Malukas Is Settling Into Life At Penske

Image
By Evan Dalton for All About Indycar Photo from Penske Entertainment David Malukas walked into his INDYCAR media day press conference with his usual excitement, this time with added enthusiasm, something that resembles a child starting a new year of school.  Malukas has been in this situation before. He has signed for a top INDYCAR team, and been there in their papaya colours for Media Day in downtown Indianapolis. This concept is not new to the Illinois native. It was the weeks after that wrecked him. His Mclaren career came crumbling down after that, when a biking accident at the start of February dislocated his wrist and tore ligaments in his arm. The team released Maluklas on April 29th, when he still hadn't recovered fully. “That year, 2024, I aged 10 years in one. It was a big learning curve for me,” said Maluaks. “I think everything happened for a reason. I think without the injury and the way everything happened from 2024 to now, I don't think I'd really be here.” I...

“They don’t care who you are” - How Marcus Armstrong’s Off Season Karting Has Prepared Him For INDYCAR In 2026

Image
By Evan Dalton for All About Indycar Meyer Shank Racing’s Marcus Armstrong spent five weeks racing go-karts in Europe during his INDYCAR off-season, he told All About Indycar during Media Day.  Armstrong was able to relax heading into the 2026 off-season, as his INDYCAR future was already set in stone after Mike Shank and MSR confirmed the Kiwi’s return for the year ahead, however, he chose not to.  “I did five weeks of karting, which was quite interesting, with Tony Kart, my old European karting team.” Armstrong raced karts on the international stage until 2016, despite making his single seater debut two years earlier in the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship.  “European karting, frankly, there’s nothing like it. It’s pretty brutal. They don’t care who you are,” said Armstrong. “They are going to treat you like rubbish when you’re on track with them. It was great to work on my race craft there and work with such a great team.”  Tony Kart is the flagship ope...

Santino Ferrucci : Caio Collet “much easier to deal with than past rookies”

Image
By Evan Dalton, for All About Indycar A.J Foyt Racing driver Santino Ferrucci has said his new teammate, Caio Collet, is “much easier to deal with than past rookies.”  Speaking at INDYCAR media day in downtown Indianapolis, the three time podium scorer has said the Brazilian is “similar to me” in terms of driving style.  Collet, born and raised in Sao Paulo, was promoted to INDYCAR by A.J Foyt after a successful 2025 INDYNXT campaign with HMD Motorsports. He finished the championship in second, 72 points behind Dale Coyne Racing’s new signing Dennis Hauger, with three race wins and nine podiums.  “Honestly, I really like him. He’s been much easier to deal with, in my opinion, than some of the past rookies I’ve had. Just very straightforward, easy.”  Ferrucci has been the permanent teammate of two rookies across the past few seasons, Benjamin Pedersen in 2023 and Sting Ray Robb in 2024.  The Connecticut born Ferrucci, who is due to make his 100th NTT INDYCAR Seri...

“I've been abandoned for years, I just wanted a room” - The Naas student who was failed by ‘the system’

Piotr Fillipek is a thriving university student, but his torrid childhood was not helped by lack of intervention from the Government  By Evan Dalton In the very recent past, the ‘systems’ within the Irish government have failed children across the country. The failures of such organisations and processes are no more present in any story than that of 20 year old university student, Piotr Fillipek.    Piotr spent most of his childhood growing up in Naas, County Kildare, after emigrating from Poland with his mother and three brothers, just before joining primary school. In his own words, “I think I’m a capable gentleman,” and even if you’ve never met Piotr, you could gather an understanding, from both his warm embrace, that this is very much the case.  His first experience with Irish government authorities was in primary school. After emigrating to Ireland, Piotr attended a Christian Brothers school. “Funny enough, I came into Ireland with no English, and I've al...

Every Christmas, the sporting world becomes a party, during one of the fiercest competitions of the year

Image
Image : Red Dragon Darts By Evan Dalton  For some people, Christmas starts with the slightly annoying melodic tones of Mariah Carey. For others, it’s the office christmas party, when someone from HR has a few too many sherries. For most, it’s when the tree goes up, the lights come on and the family is together.  For sports fans, it’s when the World Darts Championship begins at Alexandra Palace.  The darts at ‘Ally Pally’ is not a competition, it’s a culture. Bring everything you know about professional sports to the table, and throw it out, that doesn’t matter here. The best players in the world are put under extreme pressure from the offset, by players who have spawned in from the unknown. This venue owes you absolutely nothing. If you play bad, you lose, simple as. Even if darts is far from the most physically demanding sport in the world, the mental strain placed upon your mind every time you step up to the oche, knows no bounds.   The majority of this comes ...
